Note: You have a new-tag on your thumbnail and will be listed in the New Cams section for 7-DAYS from age-verification (this exposure gives you a boost in viewers, some of which will attempt to take advantage of your naivete and unfamiliarity with CB's platform).
1) 1 token = 5 cents (20tks = $1; $ x 20 = Tokens to charge, and Tokens / 20 = $Earned pre-tax... set aside 30% for taxes);
2) Grey-names have never bought tokens, and the other name-colors are only based on PAST 2-weeks tipping levels - it's not an indication of how many tokens they currently have or whether they can/will tip you - judge users by behavior not their name-color;
3) Fake Tip vs Real Tip: real tips will highlight (in yellow) the tipper's username AND the message showing how many tokens they tipped (not just the "tipped x-tokens" part);
4) Password Shows are usually scams (per the warning under the password field on the Settings & Privacy tab, you do NOT get paid tokens automatically like in a Private Show, so you need to get the tokens upfront before setting the password);
5) Charge 20+ tokens for Private Messages/PM's (weeds out time-wasters & scammers);
6) Get tokens before performing any request you agree to do;
7) If a Viewer asks or offers or pushes to be your Chat Moderator, you probably don't want them as your Mod (most of those types have ulterior motives and some try to get your messenger-handle or phone-number or other personal-info then use that to control or extort you - NEVER give anyone on the internet your personal details).
8) Doing any form of non-public broadcast - Private Show, Group Show, Ticket / Hidden Show - will remove you from the New Cams section and homepage listings while doing them which means a loss of exposing yourself to potential new viewers and tippers.
9) Amazon Wish List: Privacy (your city and state WILL appear at checkout unless you choose "no address/none"... safer to instead accept e-gift cards to a cam-specific email address); Scams (fake e-gift cards and buyer order cancellation - always make sure the gift card credits to your Amazon account or that you get the ordered-item in hand before "spoiling back" the gifter... non-scammers are fine with waiting for you to get the item(s) first).
10) Piracy/Recording: all of the streams get automatically recorded and you will appear on various porn sites scattered around the world. Even private shows, password shows, and ticket/hidden shows can be screen-recorded.
1) You appear in the New Cams section and have a "new" tag on your thumbnail for 7-days after age-verification approval: cam as much as you can, and in public-shows, to get noticed by the most site-visitors to build a follower-base. Private Shows, Group Shows, and any hidden/ticket shows remove you from the New Cams section for the duration of time spent doing the show, which costs you exposure/traffic/potential new tippers that never saw your listing (it's a trade-off, and if you decide to not do them your first-week, you can turn off Privates and Groups under the Settings & Privacy tab to avoid users clicking to start them);
2) Name Colors
a. Per CB support article - Suggestions For Independent Broadcasters: "...While you should interact with all of the users in your room, remember that blue and purple users have tokens, and greys always have the opportunity to purchase tokens. Keep in mind that an anonymous user could be your biggest fan. Encourage anonymous users to create an account..." (see link in Helpful Links section and the 2 screenshots of CB Support email responses relating to Grey users benefit to your cam-rank, both located further down this page).
b. Grey-names have no tokens, but letting them chat, instead of silencing those without tokens, tends to keep them around and that helps keep your viewer-count up and chat room active (a silent-room can be hard on a streamer)... and some Greys may go on to buy tokens and spend them on you, if they feel you treated them fairly (using a bot with a robust language-filter, like ALPHABOT let's you keep Grey chat on while blocking the bulk of undesirable posts - See "Recommended App & Bots, below);
c. other name-colors only indicate their past 2-week tipping activity, not how many tokens they've got now or whether they can/will tip you: in the end,there's only tippers and non-tippers (a dark-purple that has spent all of his tokens elsewhere and doesn't tip you, yet wants to chat and watch you for free, is at that time really on-par with a Grey-named user. CB does give you the ability in your chat-settings to only allow chat by those that have tipped you at least 1-token and certain bots can mute users that haven't tipped a higher minimum amount, which can come in handy at times like when performing goals and you want to avoid excessive chatter or directing or other annoying input from those that didn't contribute... such settings can be made and reset as needed);
3) When tipped, the entire username and tip notice/amount is highlighted in yellow and you hear a sound unless you've turned tip-volume off in your chat-settings (sound varies by size of tip). Some scammers use a chat-image of "tipped xxx-tokens" to FAKE tip and trick models (just click their name and Kick/Ban them from your room);
4) PM's are largely a waste of time (mostly beggars & scammers trying to get you alone where they can BS you... especially attempting to take advantage of a new model's unfamiliarity with the platform)... all while taking your attention away from the main chat (if you decide to do them, it's best to charge tokens to read them - out the amount in your bio, subject above video-feed, or/and in a tip menu bot... see below for bot suggestions),
Certain users that pay a monthly-fee to CB ($20 to be a Site Supporter) can initiate PM's to anyone. Users that are in your paid CB Fan Club, if you activate it in Settings & Privacy tab, can initiate PM's to you as a perk of their membership.
All open PM's in your PM-tab (above chat-window) will be cleared anytime you refresh or close your browser.
CB does not have an internal mailbox system (most models set up Twitter for keeping in touch with viewers , or/and charge tokens for access to KIK or Snap);
5) Unlike Private Shows, Password Shows do NOT pay you automatically - get 100% of the agreed upon tokens in advance before setting a room-password;
6) Tokens are worth 5-cents each (every 20=$1) and are the only allowed payment method on the site (Quick-math: $Wanted x20 = Tokens To Charge);
7) Users claiming to be Female/Couple are in many cases really males using deception to put you at ease, hoping you'll let your guard-down, so they can get access to you for their own nefarious purposes (ask them to turn on their cam to prove their gender... fakers won't).
8) All the streams on cam-sites get recorded by content-pirates using automated recording bots which they then upload to numerous sites around the world (where anyone could stumble across them). The only way to not get screenshotted or recorded is to not cam. Camming while keeping face out of frame (esp during nudity) or using a face-mask are other options, but certainly not foolproof. US copyright law (aka DMCA) is of limited-value for piracy outside of the USA, but is worth pursuing since Chaturbate provides free Takedown Requests on your behalf (they can legally act as your agent in this regard)... for more info, see the Helpful Links, below.
9) Be cautious with your decision to use chat-moderators and in selecting them. CB does not train nor endorse/rate any mods, so their quality and experience is quite variable (most are either not very competent, will harm your room more than they help it and lose you money, are power-hungry/control-freaks, or they have ulterior motives in trying to get close to you for free PM's/ticket-shows/content/messenger-app access, and the creepier ones will want to know your real name, location, phone number, etc, of course under the guise of "better helping you"... no "help" is worth you giving up your privacy and safety). Fortunately, removing a moderator is easy, and in severe cases, you can also Kick/Ban them from your room. Being self-sufficient is important because even if you have a good moderator, they may not be available to assist in every show. It's best to moderate your own room, use a chat-filtering bot, like the one recommended, in the section below (esp if you want to let Grey-users chat), silence Greys if the sheer numbers of them/comments become unmanageable (the recommended bot, below, can be used to do this), then, lastly, enlist the assistance of a moderator. Also keep in mind that a good moderator's time has value, and that many primarily give you their time & assistance in lieu of tokens (if you had to pay your mod a minimum-wage of say $8 per-hour, that's the equivalent of 160 tokens per-hour... free-help does not mean that the help has no intrinsic-value)
10) Amazon Wish List / Gift Registry Address will always show the name you've entered (use a fake/stage name), plus City and State (only way to avoid that is to select "no address/none" then accept e-gift cards to a cam-specific email that you set up). Alternatives: DeliveryCode.com.
